🔥 Back Story – From Private Stash to Must-Smoke
Every now and then, a cigar comes across my desk that wasn’t built for shelves—it was built for the inner circle. That’s exactly what we’ve got with the Privada Cigar Club “Yoo-Hoo.”
Privada has made a name digging deep into the cigar world and pulling out blends most people would never even hear about. This one comes out of Tabacalera Rivas, tied to Chico Rivas—a quiet force in the Dominican scene. The story goes, this blend lived behind the curtain for a while… made in small runs, enjoyed in lounges, and passed around among those “in the know.”
Then Privada did what they do best—brought it to light.
Now add 6 years of age to that equation, and you’re not just smoking a cigar… you’re stepping into a moment in time.
💨 First Third
Right off the light, this cigar comes in smooth and confident.
I’m getting warm cocoa powder right away, almost like opening up a fresh tin of baking chocolate. There’s a creamy texture to the smoke that coats the palate nicely, with a subtle almond nuttiness hanging in the background.
The draw is effortless, smoke production is thick, and everything feels dialed in. This is one of those starts that lets you know you’re in for a ride.

Now we hit that sweet spot…
The profile deepens into dark chocolate, and this is where it separates itself. There’s a slight bitterness—real cocoa, not sweet candy—and it’s balanced by a black cherry note that pops in and out.
Midway through, I start picking up espresso and toffee, and that’s when everything clicks. You’ve got sweet, bitter, and roasted all working together without stepping on each other.
Burn line is sharp, construction is holding strong—no complaints here.

Body: Medium-Full
💨 Final Third
This is where the cigar earns its stripes.
The flavors shift darker with molasses, leather, and a long dry cocoa finish. That earlier cherry note evolves into more of a candied cherry undertone, lingering just enough to keep things interesting.
The retrohale brings a little extra kick—some spice mixed with roasted coffee—but nothing overwhelming. It stays smooth, composed, and flavorful all the way down.
No harshness, no drop-off… just a solid finish.
Strength: Medium-Full
Body: Full
🧠 Final Thoughts
This cigar is all about balance and patience.
That 6-year age really shines here. It rounds everything out, smooths the transitions, and lets that chocolate-forward profile build naturally from start to finish.
Don’t let the name fool you—this isn’t a novelty cigar. This is a well-crafted, layered Dominican smoke that delivers from foot to nub.
Perfect pairing? Give me a stout, a solid rum, or a bold espresso and I’m good to go.
