Sometimes a cigar tells a story before you even light it — and this La Palina Bronze Label re-issue definitely comes with history. This Privada Cigar Club exclusive is a 5-year aged Lancero (7x38) produced at El Paraíso (Plasencia Honduras), featuring an aged Honduran Habano wrapper, Honduran Corojo binder, and fillers from Honduran Corojo & Nicaraguan Jalapa.
Big shout out to Sammy Phillips, President of La Palina 🙌 — always great seeing classic blends get another moment in the spotlight.
First Third – A Slow Start 🔥
Right off the light, I noticed the burn was a bit off and needed a touch-up early. That can happen with aged cigars, especially depending on prior humidification conditions. Some sticks out there may have struggled if storage wasn’t ideal — luckily, mine recovered nicely.
Flavor opened with soft cedar 🌲, light earth, and a mellow spice. Very smooth but slightly muted at first.
Second Third – Settling In 😌
Once things evened out, the cigar found its rhythm. Creamy smoke texture with toasted nuts 🥜, subtle sweetness, and gentle pepper lingering in the background. The age shows here — refined and relaxed rather than bold.
Construction improved as the burn corrected itself, making for an easygoing middle section.
Final Third – The Best Part 💨
This is where the cigar really delivered. Cocoa 🍫, warm baking spice, and deeper tobacco notes finally came together. Medium body, smooth finish, and no harshness — exactly what you want from an aged Lancero closing act.
🏆 Final Verdict
This Bronze Label shows clear signs of age and craftsmanship, but consistency may depend on how it was humidified before reaching smokers. Mine performed well after a shaky start, though it never quite reached “wow” territory.
Still, a cool re-release with vintage character and a respectable finish.
